IMAGE SEGMENTATION: WHAT IS IT?

A subfield of computer vision called image segmentation is concerned with breaking up a digital image into various segments, or areas or groups, based on its characteristics. It is an image processing technique. Any segmentation algorithm’s primary goal is to simplify the image so that it may be analyzed more easily and with greater meaning. Every pixel in an image is tagged during image segmentation such that pixels with the same label have certain properties. Convolutional neural networks and other deep learning models are used in the majority of contemporary picture segmentation operations.

Using clustering methods like k-means clustering, the segments in segmented photos can also be grouped. This makes it possible to use unsupervised picture categorization.
